Some individuals are perfectly happy to get through a day and accomplish all that they set out to do, however simple or far-reaching those goals may be. I admire these folks, but I am not one of them. Chores, errands, and daily rituals, while admittedly necessary for one's own sanity, often prevent me from doing all the things I want to do. The problem is, I'm not sure exactly what it is I need to be doing. Getting out more, living more, seeing more, etc. (Key word here is "more", for those who haven't picked up on my bloated sense of self-importance). There is no set list of things I want or need to do; it's all very cluttered,
Happens Push Cart I've had a build-up of schedules, "to do" lists, and all those random things that pop up and conveniently require a great deal of attention. While I've accepted there to be a certain amount of this in my life, which is probably a good thing, my tolerance for these chores begins to wane when it occupies the majority of my time in a given stretch. Regular movie watching has been down as a result; what little of it I've done has been 20 minutes here, 40 minutes there. But it's absolutely critical that I squeeze in those little bits of movie-watching, no matter the kind of movie, because sometimes the right movie at the right (or wrong) time is just what I need. Of course, it's impossible to know it until I've seen it and internalized it. You never know when that therapeutic experience of cinema will sneak up. Some of these movies just take your mind off things, providing necessary reprieve and absurdity to counter all the reality of life. Others penetrate the very depths of your consciousness, impacting how you view and partake in all of those daily rituals. Sometimes they can even help one to appreciate those pesky errands, schedules, and jobs a little more.

(CBS) Dave Swaffer's vista California home is his greatest joy but also his biggest problem. He's lived in his five bedroom home for 15 years. But, as CBS News Correspondent Sandra Hughes reports, after using his homeowners insurance for broken water pipes, State Farm dumped him. After being turned down, Swaffers says he had a total of 46 denials, either through an agency or directly from the company, before finding insurance. The reason Swaffer couldn't get insurance after State Farm dropped him is a secret of the insurance industry called the CLUE system: the Comprehensive Loss Underwriting Exchange. Originally it was used to help companies detect fraud. But now it's being used against consumers to blacklist them for making any claim. "But everyone knows you are going to have to claim, that is the reason you buy insurance in the first place," says Swaffer. "You shouldn't lose your coverage because you filed a claim."

Not long ago, Isuzu and General Motors embarked upon a joint development venture to produce compact pickup trucks. Isuzu intended to build a truck called the D-Max to sell in Thailand. GM, meanwhile, manufactured its own versions — the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon — to sell in the United States. Isuzu sells two pickup in the U.S., the i-290 (which is listed separately in the cars.com Research section) and holds a 2.9-liter four-cylinder, and the i-370 that has a 242-horsepower, 3.7-liter inline-five-cylinder. These pickups join Isuzu's only remaining model in the U.S. market: the Ascender sport utility vehicle, which is also based on a GM product. Serving as the uplevel i-series model, the i-370 features standard CD/MP3 player, tilt steering wheel and cruise control. With the appropriate equipment, the i-370 has a 1,338-pound payload rating and can tow up to 4,000 pounds.
Exterior
These pickups were developed in a joint venture, so the overall appearance of the i-370 is similar to the Colorado and Canyon. Isuzu's version features a bold grille made up of three wide bars: one horizontal and two vertical. Whereas the four-cylinder i-290 comes only in extended-cab form with two-wheel drive, the i-370 is a crew-cab pickup with Insta-Trac four-wheel drive. Four conventional front-hinged doors are installed. The i-370 has 15-inch tires on aluminum wheels.
Interior
Up to five occupants can fit inside the i-370 Crew Cab. Front bucket seats flank a center console. Standard equipment includes air conditioning; fabric seat upholstery; carpeting; a stereo system with a CD/MP3 player; remote keyless entry; cruise control; a tilt steering column; and power windows, locks and mirrors. Power heated front seats, leather-appointed interior trim and an in-dash six-CD changer are included in the Limited Package.
Under the Hood
The i-370's 3.5-liter inline-five-cylinder develops 242 hp and 242 pounds-feet of torque. A four-speed-automatic transmission is standard. The i-370 comes with Insta-Trac four-wheel drive, which permits shifting between 2WD and 4WD High at the touch of a button while under way.
Safety
Four-wheel antilock brakes are standard. Side curtain-type airbags are included.

Ford backs federal loans Ford Motor
Ford Motor Co. Executive Chairman Bill Ford voiced his support Friday for government loans for the auto industry and growing attention on the nation’s lack of energy policy.
Bill Ford has been largely out of the limelight since hiring CEO Alan Mulally in September 2006. But he made his remarks outside of Ford Motor Co.’s world headquarters in Dearborn, where the company was hosting a centennial celebration event for the Model T.
Ford, the great-grandson of company founder Henry Ford, was on hand to greet Model T owners and sign autographs.
Ford Motor has been intensely lobbying presidential candidates and others in Congress for $25 billion to $50 billion in government loans, which some have labeled a bailout.
Bill Ford took offense to that characterization, arguing that the money is important to help the U.S. auto industry transition to meet tougher regulations imposed by Congress and shifting demands of consumers, who are seeking vehicles that are more fuel efficient and powered by alternative fuels and electricity.
The money, Ford said, might give Ford “breathing room” because the loans might mean the difference between billions of dollars in loans at “a single-digit interest rate” and “a double-digit interest rate.”
The money, he added, would also ease the way for Ford “to go as absolutely fast as we can” to develop alternative-powered vehicles.
Ford, who declined to state his preference in the U.S. presidential elections, also said he was heartened that the candidates had energy policy at the top of their discussion lists. He said a sound national energy policy is overdue.
Given the infrastructure needed to support any single future direction of the auto industry, he said, government must help determine the most desirable path for our nation — and its automakers.
“It’s a government’s role,” he said, “to be leading that debate.”
